NIST announces the release of draft Special Publication 800-53A, Guide for Assessing the Security Controls in Federal Information Systems. This publication provides guidelines for developing security assessment plans and a comprehensive catalog of assessment procedures that can be used to determine the effectiveness of security controls in federal information systems. Comments will be accepted through July 31, 2007.
